There was once an English band from Bristol called Subway Sect consisting of Rob Marche on guitar, Dave Collard on keyboards, Chris Bostock on bass and Sean McLusky on drums.  Enter ex-pat American Dig Wayne who had previously played with Buzz and the Flyers, a New York. rockabilly band. They immediately jelled together playing a mix of new wave, pop and soul and became an instant sucesss with their very single called ‘Boxerbeat’ which reached #3 on the British charts.  They subsequently released a number of studio albums before breaking up in the mid-80’s.

The single I picked today also reached #3 on the British charts and was later
included on the soundtrack of American movie: 40 Year Old Virgin.  The cover features a black and white photo of a man smoking a cigarette in bed perusing his stash of nudiees.  Lot of innuendo…I’d say.  On the record the sleeve design is credited to RCA. Ltd Record Division.  Too bad the person (s) who actually designed and/or photographed have not been recognized.
