Every Thursday is 'Collection Day' where I will be posting a collection of covers by a single artist. Today you will be looking at a selection of 12 inch singles by The Smiths. The fourth unsold record is not listed in this picture. This great English band from the eighties featured the haunting voice of front man Paul Morrissey. These masters of angst and ennui were very consistent with their record cover art using monochromatic stills from obscure indie films and other media. The images are often fraught with symbolism and subtle contradiction.
