One of the earliest of British blues, Savoy Brown, originally known as Savoy Brown Blues Band was formed in Battersea, Southwest London in 1965. The founder guitarist Kim Simmonds who was later joined by vocalist Chris Youlden helped launch the late 60’s UK blues ,movement. They never achieved much success in the UK but when they imported their blues style to the USA they were extremely well received. They promoted their band with non-stop touring and soon became part of the framework that launched the rock and roll music of the 1970’s. Their influence has been incorporated into modern rock as we know it today.
Raw Sienna is the fifth and one of the best albums released by Savoy Brown in 1969 on the Parrot Records label in the US and by Decca in the UK. The cover is done in shades of yellow ochre, browns and other shades of yellows…very...yeah...spacey.
