This 1980’s band, a psychedelic rock band from London is still active and performing even today. The Doctor and the Medics are currently booked to play approximately 21 ‘gigs’ in the UK between the months of May and October 2012. This attests to the popularity of the group even today. Frontman and vocalist, Clive Jackson, a DJ previously, formed the group with guitarist Steve McGuire, drummer Steve Ritchie and bassist Richard Searle. They were backed up by the Anadin Brothers comprised of female dancers and singers known for their snychronised dance moves.
They are, of course, best known for their song “Spirit in the Sky” that reached Number 1 on the UK charts. However, today is textured cover day and the single I’m presenting is ‘The Miracle of The Age’ which was released in 1985 as a 7”and 12” single. The record has a black and white patterned inner hard cover sleeve that slides out from the main cover that has a die-cut with a zig zag pattern also in black and white that projects a 3-D effect. Credits for the cover have been attributed to Christian Paris and design to the Band’s bassist, Richard Searle. The overall design is by The Leisure Process.
